| Most homemade and commercial dog foods contain high levels of Omega 6 and low levels of Omega 3. Recent research has shown that the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 should be at least 4:1, but preferably 1:1. To achieve the ideal ratio, the amount of Omega 3 in the food must be increased. In order to consume 1 g of pure EPA, an animal would need to eat approximately 150 g of fatty fish a day. This would be both expensive and very high in calories. Therefore, it is preferable to administer a concentrated form of Omega 3, such as Doils. One ml of Doils contains 1 g of EPA and fewer than 10 calories. |
